The man across the street gave me some type of saltwater fish, don’t know what they are. But, they are froze solid with the guts still in them. I always clean mine as soon as i catch them. Are the fish still alright to eat?

The multi-day boats out of San Diego commonly toss whole fish into the fish hold, and they come out frozen days (or a week or more later), and they’re just fine, except right around the gaff hole. Thaw them and fillet them out and they’ll be fine.
I’ve eaten plenty of fish caught on these trips, and while they aren’t as good as fresh, they’re as good as fish which were cleaned fresh and then frozen.
yea man, as long as the fish havent been sitting up for a long time. say if he caught them and froze them and then you got them just a couple days later..yea they are fine….a little bit of cleaning a little bit of charcaol and a grill with a twist of lemon…oh yea eat up. hope that helps you a bit good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience
just fillet and skin them after slowly thawing them out, unless they’re too small to fillet. but they should be okay. smell them.
odd that he didn’t at least gut them before freezing.
if they aren’t any good, make sure he doesn’t see you tossing them out. you won’t get any more.
I would think they would be edible if frozen quick but I am with you, I clean my fish when I get back home. No guts for me.
dont take the chance! thaw them out next time your going fishing and use them as deadbait to catch a BIGGER one.
